Young males shun rum and raisin ice cream - Popular flavour linked to oral sex

Western Bureau:

Rum and raisin ice cream is seemingly no longer pleasing to the tongue of young people in St James, who are said to be shying away from it in droves. The decision to shun the popular flavour is believed to be linked to an infamous oral sex video involving a policeman. The cop, describing the taste to the woman he was pleasing, licked his fingers and said it tasted like rum and raisin ice cream.

"Rum and raisin ice cream was by far the most popular ice cream before that video come out. Since then, sales have dropped dramatically, especially among the young men," the owner of a popular Montego Bay-based ice cream parlour told THE STAR.

"They are linking rum and raisin to oral sex, so when they are in a group setting, they are not only not buying it; in fact, they are saying lewd things about it."

According to the parlour owner, she recently witnessed an incident in which a young woman jokingly offered to buy her male companion a rum and raisin ice cream, but he got upset about it and walked out of the ice cream parlour.

"The young man was getting vex and walking out when his girlfriend offered to buy him a rum raisin ice cream and then playfully asked him if he didn't want to lick his fingers," said the parlour owner.

"The older folks will come in and buy their rum and raisin as usual, but the young people, especially the young men, are not buying it again."

An ice cream vendor, who travels from community to community across St James on his motorcycle selling, said over recent weeks he has stopped selling the rum and raisin flavour because it is bad for business.

LAYING OFF BEST SELLER

"If the boys on the corner stop me and ask me what flavour I have, once I mention rum and raisin, they are not buying anything at all. I have decided, even for the time being, to lay off the rum and raisin," the vendor said. "I hope things will go back to normal soon because rum and raisin was always my best-selling flavour."

In the infamous video, a female, who featured in the sexual act with the policeman, was heard asking him, "What it taste like?" and the lawman was heard responding, "It taste like rum and raisin ice cream."

Interestingly, the situation facing the ice cream flavour is somewhat similar to the situation with coco bread, which has been renamed 'folding bread' to appease the many young men.

'Cocoa' is one of the colloquial names for vagina.

"It is all foolishness, damn nonsense. I grew up knowing coco bread as coco bread, not as folding bread. When I go into the bakery and ask for coco bread, sometimes they will look at me strangely, but I am not calling it folding bread, because coco bread is the right name," an elderly man told THE STAR.
