Founder of Shades Night Club Lloyd Cameron may have passed away, but the club, which has been offering adult entertainment since 1994, will continue to cater to its clientele, according to his son, Shamar Cameron, who now heads operations.

And as a mark of respect to the late proprietor, there will be a memorial get together on the first anniversary of his death, this Wednesday, for the man many called Bossie because of his affable nature.

"We are having a memorial for Lloyd. He passed away last year on the 11th of August so we just want to make the 11th coming up a day about him," Shamar told THE STAR. The main item on the agenda is the unveiling of a plaque on the wall of the club, which will chronicle the history of the club and the man.

"We will also have some projectors showing him as he staged some of the activities of the club over the years, basically taking a walk down memory lane. We want to make the day about him," the younger Cameron said. The event will start at 3 p.m. and end at 7 p.m. in accordance with the curfew restrictions.

The pandemic has prevented the staging of some of Shades Night Club's calendar events since last year, including the ever-popular Miss Shades Exotic Dancing Queen Contest, (Miss Shades) and Shades pan de Beach, which over the years has featured artistes such as Popcaan, Spice, Macka Diamond, and RDX.

Shades Night Club, located in Content Gardens, Ocho Rios, St Ann, initially operated as a seafood centre and guest house before yielding to public demand for a dance club. The previous business place that operated in the space was also an exotic dancing club. Since its rebirth, it has raised the bar in adult entertainment, catering to both local and overseas clientele.
