Teacher pleads for return of her $200,000 cow
Every Christmas Trisan Johnson's nieces and nephews look forward to receiving gifts from their favourite aunt, but this year, there will be no wrapped packages under the tree. Johnson's prized cow was stolen on Saturday in Grove Mount, Mandeville, Manchester. The 30-year-old high school teacher said that she is disheartened as she was planning on selling the animal which is valued at approximately $200,000. She is pleading with the thieves to return the animal.
"Christmas is coming and I wanted to sell it and buy some stuff to sell during the period and turn back the money and buy back another cow. I also want to take care of bills and ensure that I got my nieces Christmas presents but this has set me back drastically. Just bring back my cow please," she said.
Johnson said her brown cow was discovered missing early Saturday morning by the caretaker who had gone to check on it and three others.
"This is the first time that any of them was stolen. I worked really hard in 2014 to buy two cows in 2015. I got calves from them and I spend a lot of money to take care of them also," she said. "Just take it back to me please." The English teacher said the unfortunate event has taken a toll on her.
"I can't sleep from this happen and right now I am just thinking about selling the rest of cows. It is stressing because I have to pay bills. I live in Portmore and the rent is really expensive so one job alone wouldn't cut it. I wanted to make ends meet so that is why I went into animal rearing and to know that I have invested so much and someone just come and take it away from me is really depressing. I just want my cow back," Johnson said.
The Mandeville police have confirmed receiving a report of the matter and are investigating.
