Cashier accused of stealing nearly $19,000
A 25-year-old pleaded not guilty to the charge of larceny as a servant when she appeared in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court yesterday.
The court heard that on January 3, the complainant reported that the accused, Christian Clarke, failed to account for $18,930 based on an online summary printout of a Supreme Venture machine. Clarke told Senior Parish Judge Lori-Ann Cole-Montague that she was employed at the establishment as a cashier since November 14.
The mother of two began her explanation before Cole-Montague abruptly interrupted her. She informed her that because of her not guilty plea, the matter would have to be sent to trial.
Clarke was made the subject of a fingerprint order. She is to return to court on March 24.
