Two police officers and two alleged members of the One Don gang are nursing minor injuries following a brawl yesterday outside the Supreme Court in downtown, Kingston.

The police say that the incident occurred around 5 p.m. while the men, who are defendants in an ongoing gang trial in the Home Circuit Court, were being transported from the courtyard into a police pick-up truck. Head of the Kingston Central Police Division, Superintendent Berrisford Williams, confirmed the incident and that the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) has already launched an investigation.

"Well the matter is now being investigated by INDECOM and we will also do our own internal investigations into the matter. The prisoner refused to take instructions from one of the officers and as a result kicked out at the officer. Another officer came to his assistance and had to use force to subdue. During the fracas, two other prisoners and police officers were injured, but minor," he said.

The One Don Gang is a breakaway of the St Catherine-based Clansman Gang. The reputed leader of the gang Andre Bryan and 32 other alleged gangsters are being tried on an indictment with 25 counts under the Criminal Justice (Suppression of Criminal Organisations) Act and the Firearms Act.
