Senior Parish Judge Lori-Anne Cole-Montaque blasted a man who robbed a high school student at the Half-Way Tree Transportation Centre in broad daylight.

Raheme Dixon, 19, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit robbery and robbery with aggravation in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court yesterday. It was reported that on April 12 at 3 p.m., the complainant was at the transport centre when he observed five people walking towards him. A man later identified as Dixon approached him and asked if he had a phone or any money. The schoolboy said no. He was approached again by Dixon sometime later. Dixon reportedly asked him to buy a drink. The court heard that the complainant removed $150 from his wallet as well as his Samsung Galaxy J2 cellular phone and handed over both items to Dixon as he feared for his life. The complainant indicated that at that time, Dixon and four other men surrounded him. Dixon was later pointed out by the complainant and handed over to the police at the Half-Way Tree Police Station.

“Your victim was a child, someone in uniform. Other persons were there in the transportation centre, lots of persons would have been there I am thinking at 3 p.m. So, this is very bold and brazen,” Cole-Montaque commented. She requested a social enquiry report to assist with arriving at the most appropriate sentence. She then revoked Dixon’s bail. He is to return to court on July 14.
