Chicken thief confesses to another robbery

July 07, 2022

Hanson Hill, the 40-year-old man who last month confessed to stealing more than 400 pounds of chicken meat, had additional charges laid against him yesterday in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court.

Hill, who was to be sentenced for larceny by trick, was arraigned on a new charge of simple larceny before parish judge Venise Blackstock-Murray. It was reported that on November 1, 2021, the complainant received a call from her neighbour that Hill was interested in purchasing 300 pounds of chicken meat. She indicated in her statement that when Hill visited her home in the Corporate Area, she showed him the bags of chicken meat already placed in bags. Her neighbour assisted Hill by putting the chicken meat in a Toyota Noah van, and afterwards he enquired the price of the products. The complainant informed him that the chicken cost $72,000 and Hill replied that the money was in the car. Hill went to the car and sped away with the chicken meat. On this new charge, Hill pleaded guilty. Blackstock-Murray made Hill the subject of a fingerprint order and requested a social enquiry report to assist with sentencing. He was further remanded until July 19.

In the meantime, prosecutors informed the judge that additional charges are to be laid against Hill soon, as three other complainants appeared in court yesterday alleging that he also stole chicken meat from them.

"I will find out more about these new matters, if you are involved on that date," the judge informed the complainants.
