Man dies after drinking bottle of liqueur

A man died after drinking an entire bottle of Jagermeister liqueur in less than two minutes. A viral video showed the man downing a bottle of the spirit as part of a binge-drinking competition that took place in South Africa over the weekend. People were seen clapping and cheering him on but he later collapsed.

Police in the Limpopo province have now opened an inquest into the death of the unidentified man, who is believed to be around 25 to 30 years old.

Police spokesperson Brig Motlafela Mojapelo explained that the participants had been trying to win a cash prize by downing the Jagermeister within a specified time limit.

Mojapelo told local media: "One of them immediately collapsed thereafter and was taken to a local clinic, where he was certified dead."

Reacting to the video, one person said: "Worst part of it all ... is that, this isn't funny at all ... it was a game that turned out all wrong from all directions."

Dogs can turn their owners into sex magnets

A new study has found that larger breeds of pooch, such as German shepherds and Labradors, are found to be good "wingmen" for humans looking for love.

The poll conducted by pet care service Rover discovered that people were 56 per cent more likely to talk to a stranger at a bar if they had a dog with them.

Canine behaviour expert Adam Fehmi said: "It's no surprise that having a dog can boost your chances of meeting a partner and forming a connection - especially in social settings like a pub.

"Dogs are naturally very social and, by their nature, help to bring people together. They are a great way to break the ice in many a social situation."

A spokeswoman for Rover added: "Man's best friend is also, in fact, his best wingman. On top of sparking conversations between strangers in pubs, they can ignite romantic sparks too."
