Westmoreland cops kept busy

Two men in western Jamaica have been charged following two separate incidents in Westmoreland.

Tyrone Parker, 34, of Esher district, Lucea in Hanover, has been charged for robbery with violence, housebreaking and larceny following an incident in Negril, Westmoreland, on February 15.

Reports are that about noon, Parker went to a home and forced open a window at the front of the house. He entered and held up a man and a woman who were both inside. He stole an iPhone and a gold chain valued at $450,000 before leaving. The incident was reported to the police. On February 18 about 2:45 p.m., Parker was apprehended by the Negril police and later charged following an interview in the presence of his attorney.

In the Westmoreland Police Division, a construction worker has been charged with possession of weapon, assault at common law and assault occasioning bodily harm following an incident in Venture district, Bethel Town, on February 5. Charged is 52-year-old Donavon Porter, otherwise called, 'Danny Porter', of Venture district. Reports are that about 7 a.m., Porter, who was armed with a firearm, went to a man's home and pointed the weapon at him. He then used the firearm to hit the man in his head causing pain. The man managed to escape and reported the assault to the police. Porter was apprehended on February 17, about 7:45 p.m., during a police operation at Bethel Town Square in the parish and charged following an interview in the presence of his attorney. His court dates are being finalised.
