Hallgrimsson to suit up for One Love football
Senior Reggae Boyz coach Heimir Hallgrimsson will be one of the featured players on show at the annual Master and Celebrities One Love football showpiece, set to take place at Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex tomorrow.
Hallgrimsson, who became Reggae Boyz coach in September but only took up residence in Jamaica in January, had confirmed his participation at the first local training camp under his watch in early January.
However, when organiser Clive 'Busy' Campbell asked the former IBV midfielder/defender the position he wanted to play in the exhibition affair, the coach declared that he wished to play the No 6 (defensive midfield) position.
Four teams - Entertainers Invitational, Referees Invitational, Christian Ambassadors and Masters and Celebrities - will participate in the charity event.
Hallgrimsson will play for Masters and Celebrities, along with former 400 metres runner Jermaine Gonzales, Arnett Garden's Dutch assistant coach Eric Rademaker, Owen Hill, Denzil Wilks, Cornel Chin-Sue, Kevin 'Pele' Wilson and journalist George Davis.
The Entertainers will have goalkeeper Marvin Chin, Wayne Marshall, Luton Fyah, Laa Lee, Ian 'Pepe' Goodison, Dicoy Williams and broadcaster Christopher 'Zidane' Matthews.
The Referees Invitational will have Oshane Nation, Jassett Kerr, Karl Tyrel, Carvel Banton and Malachi Reid.
Christian Ambassadors will be headlined by former national youth star and Harbour View assistant coach Sean Fraser.
Admission is $1,000 for adults, $500 for children and free for children under age 10.
