Dancehall entertainer Vybz Kartel has lost his bid to introduce fresh evidence to support his murder appeal.

Lawyers representing Kartel had an expert witness examine a phone in the case.

They then applied to the Privy Council for fresh information from the expert to be heard as part of the appeal.

The application has been rejected by the court.

Kartel’s substantial appeal of his conviction and sentencing is still to be heard.

A date is yet to be set.

Kartel, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, and fellow entertainer Shawn Storm, real name Shawn Campbell, as well as Kahira Jones and Andre St John were convicted in 2014 for killing Clive 'Lizard' Williams in 2011.

Williams' body was never recovered.

Note: In an earlier version of this story we incorrectly reported that the substantial appeal was denied. We regret the error.
