Woman hopes to reunite with long lost mother

July 19, 2023

Michelle Binns, 49, said she has no recollections of her mother Beverley Jackson and is seeking the public's assistance in reuniting with her.

Based on the sketchy information that she received, Binns said she heard that her mother left her with her father, Copeland Roy Binns, shortly after she was born and went to reside in St Elizabeth.

"I was born at Victoria Jubilee Hospital and at the time my parents were living in Kingston. She left me with him and he took me to live with his mother Doris Hewitt and my aunt in Mandeville, Manchester. They treated me really well though, but it was hard not knowing my mother. I think my mother may have come to visit about one time when I was in basic school but I really have no memories of it," she said.

Binns, who is now a mother of two children, said she does not wish to know the story behind her mother's disappearance. She said her only desire is to be reunited with her and to know her side of the family.

"Somebody who knew her well saw her in New York some time ago, but I don't know if she died or anything. I am hoping that she is alive and I will get a chance to see her face. I am not seeking to know her to get anything, nor do I want to know why she left me. I am a very forgiving person. I would want to know her side of the family if I have any siblings and just know my other relatives. I do hope she is not sick and if I can assist her in any way, I would," Binns said.
