Thief regrets stealing ‘cheap phone’

A Corporate Area woman who stole a cell phone from a restaurant in downtown Kingston allegedly confessed to the police that she intended to return the device as it was a "cheap phone".

The accused, Codian McIntosh, was charged with simple larceny after she was caught on surveillance footage removing a woman's handbag from a restaurant.

It is alleged that McIntosh went into the restaurant and stole the bag, which contained a water bottle, $1,000 and the cell phone. She was identified on CCTV footage, and when apprehended by the police, allegedly said, "Me did a go bring back the tings dem cause a one cheap phone."

The matter was mentioned in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Wednesday before Senior Parish Judge Paula Blake-Powell and was adjourned until September 10 for the complainant to attend.
