Driver charged with killing cabbie

A 57-year-old driver has been slapped with murder charges following a shooting incident on Red Hills Road, St Andrew, on Sunday.

Ivan Bowen, otherwise called 'Mcguiver', of Leas Flat, Red Hills, St Andrew, was charged with the murder of 67-year-old Derrick Burke, otherwise called 'Bird', taxi operator of Molynes Road, Kingston 19.

Reports from the Constant Spring police are that about 11:10 a.m., residents stumbled upon the body and summoned them. Upon their arrival, Burke was seen slumped the steering of his car with wounds to the upper body. He was assisted to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

On Monday, Bowen turned himself in to the police, where he was charged. A court date for him is being finalised.
