Police charge suspects in murder of Paulwell’s daughter & her mother
The four persons arrested in relation to the kidnapping and murder of member of parliament Phillip Paulwell's infant daughter and her mother have been charged.
Assistant Commissioner of Police in-charge of crime, Fitz Bailey, made the announcement today during a press briefing.
"It is one of the most painful investigations for the team in recent times. However, the team of investigators continue to be professional in the matter. And I want to commend them for that and the team at the CIB headquarters," Bailey said.
Toshyna Patterson and her 10-month-old daughter Sarayah Paulwell were abducted from their home on Gilmour Drive in St Andrew on September 9.
Although a $500,000 reward was offered for information on their whereabouts, their disappearance remained a mystery.
Following police investigations, it was announced that four persons had been arrested in relation to the matter, which had now evolved into a case of kidnapping and murder.
They are: 34-year-old Leoda Bradshaw, 30-year-old Roland Balfour, 29-year-old Roshane Miller and 31-year-old Richard 'Gorilla' Brown.
The case drew national interest after it was revealed that Bradshaw was not only an officer in the United States Navy, but that she also shares a child with Paulwell.
Bailey also said that the bodies of the victims were burnt and disposed of, seemingly confirming that the two burnt bodies found in Rockfort, East Kingston last Friday belonged to the infant and her mother.
The accused have been slapped with charges ranging from misprision of felony to murder and kidnapping - as well as their respective conspiracies.
"The DPP has obtained a voluntary bill and the case will be taken directly to the supreme court. The investigation continues," Bailey said.
