Man pays dearly for revenge porn

At least $500,000 will be paid to a Corporate Area woman as compensation, after her ex-boyfriend admitted to posting her nude photographs on social media.

The defendant, who will not be named by THE STAR to protect the identity of the complainant, agreed to pay the sums when he appeared in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Wednesday, where he is charged for malicious communication. It was reported that the defendant and the complainant were in a relationship for eight years. The woman also sent nude photographs to the defendant. However, sometime between July and August, there was a disagreement between the couple, and they decided to end the relationship.

On August 25, the defendant posted the nude photographs of the complainant on Facebook, using a fake profile.

“Me did drunk,” the defendant proffered as his defence for posting the photographs.

However, his explanation was insufficient and did not stop Senior Parish Judge Lori-Anne Cole-Montaque from revoking his bail, which was set at $40,000. The man was remanded in custody until November 15, when he is expected to begin making compensation.
