Teen implicated in motor car theft
The teenage girl who the Half-Way Tree Criminal Investigations Branch implicated in the alleged robbery of a motor car on Arnold Road, Kingston, in August, was remanded when she appeared in court on Tuesday.
The matter was mentioned in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court for the first time. The girl, who is 17, was not arraigned on charges of robbery with aggravation and conspiracy to robbery with aggravation, as Senior Parish Judge Lori-Anne Cole-Montaque was concerned that she was brought before the court for adults as opposed to the Family Court, which hears cases involving minors.
"I only deal with adults," the judge informed the teen.
"How are you today little miss?" the judge probed.
"I am doing okay," the teenager responded.
Cole-Montaque explained that the matter would have to be transferred to the Family Court to be properly ventilated. She was remanded in custody until November 3.
It is alleged that the teen, along with two other men, requested pick-up from the Arnold Road area using the In-Drive application. It is alleged that the taxi operator on arrival of the request was robbed of his Toyota Probox motor car.
