St Catherine man remanded for hitting girlfriend with firearm
Old Harbour resident Damion Kelly was ordered remanded when he appeared before the St Catherine Parish Court on Friday.
He is currently before the court to answer assault charges, after he allegedly hit his girlfriend in the face with a firearm during a dispute over claims of infidelity.
The incident happened on October 27, and was reported to the police who subsequently arrested the aggressor.
Kelly was charged with possession of a prohibited weapon and assault occasioning bodily harm after a question and answer session.
When the matter was mentioned, the complainant expressed her fear of the accused and a desire to discontinue the matter. But the judge told the complainant to make that request at the high court division.
A court date of on November 17 was set after Attorney-at-Law Kemoy McEkron requested expedited hearing in the matter for his client.
