July 04, 2024

The body of an unidentified man washed up on the Port Henderson beach in St Catherine this morning.

The body was reportedly seen by a fisherman about 11 a.m. and he alerted the police.

The St Catherine South police say investigators are consulting with their counterparts in St Andrew to determine if the body is that of a man who was washed away in Arnett Gardens yesterday.

Twenty-year-old Alrick Moncrieffe was washed away by floodwaters on Wednesday in Havana, Arnett Gardens.

Moncrieffe, otherwise called ‘Kalonji’ and ‘Lala’, was playing football with friends when the ball fell into a gully and he rushed to retrieve it.

However, when he entered the gully, the force of the water, which swelled as a result of the heavy rains associated with Hurricane Beryl, reportedly carried him away.

Meanwhile, it's reported that a woman also lost her life in Hanover.
