Police shoot knife-wielding man in Half-Way Tree

A knife-wielding man was shot and injured by the police at the Nelson Mandela Bus Park in Half-Way Tree a short while ago.

Buses are being rerouted and pedestrian traffic curtailed. 

The police shot the man in his leg about 11:40 a.m.

Our news team was in the area and saw the police giving chase to the injured man before he was instructed to drop the knife. Two explosions were heard and the man fell to the ground. 

The injured man was assisted to hospital.

Curious motorists stopped along the roadway and some even recorded the incident.
