Man escapes police, leaves behind M16 rifle in Spanish Town

Cops attached to the St Catherine North Police Division are on the look out for a man who ran away during a search leaving behind a loaded M16 rifle in Spanish Town yesterday.

According to reports, a foot patrol was being conducted by the police in the area about 8:30 p.m.

Upon reaching a section of the community, the man was seen carrying a bag and was stopped.

While being accosted by the team the man managed to escape.

His bag was left and was searched revealing an American Tactical M16 rifle affixed with a magazine containing 10 rounds of 5.56M cartridges.
