Illegal firearm seized in St Andrew South, three men in custody

Three men are being held by the St Andrew South police in connection with the seizure of a firearm and ammunition in the division last night.

It is reported that about 11:00 p.m. a police team was on patrol in Olympic Gardens when they searched premises in the vicinity of Hill Avenue and Lemon Lane.

A Smith and Wesson pistol affixed with a magazine containing seven rounds of cartridges was reportedly found. 

The men who were present were held on suspicion of possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorised possession of ammunition.

The Special Operations Branch is investigating the matter.
