Farmer charged with illegal gun found in bedroom

A -29-year-old farmer is in police custody for his alleged connection to a gun found on his property in Cambridge, St James on Monday.

Okong Nelson is charged with possession of prohibited weapon and unauthorised possession of ammunition.

The Montego Bay Police say that at 5:00 p.m., a targeted raid was carried out at the home of Nelson.

During a search of a bedroom he occupied, a Smith and Wesson .40 pistol affixed with a magazine containing five .40 cartridges was found.

Nelson was arrested and charged.

His court date is being finalised.
