Prisoner escapes after bathroom break

A prisoner who claimed he needed a restroom break shocked authorities when he made a daring escape from the Port Maria Courthouse on Friday, November 29, 2024.

But Oshane Scott, 31, who escaped police custody in St Mary on Friday, November 29, was recaptured on Christmas Eve.

Scott, who is otherwise called 'Chin Chin', a labourer of Manchester Lane in Port Maria, was at the courthouse to answer charges of attempted rape, assault at common law, and unlawful wounding. He now has the additional charge of escaping custody and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Reports from the Port Maria police are that at about 9:05 a.m., Scott, who was attending court, requested to use the restroom. He was then escorted by a policewoman, however, while returning, Scott allegedly physically assaulted the policewoman and then escaped.

The policewoman was treated for her injuries at hospital.

Scott was recaptured during a targeted raid that was carried out at Frontier district in Port Maria. Police said he was found walking along the roadway when he was nabbed and returned to custody.
