Chef implicated in robbery and shooting incident

Detectives from the Hunts Bay Police Station in St Andrew apprehended and charged a woman in connection with the shooting of a customer service representative and the subsequent theft of his vehicle in Riverton Meadows, Kingston 11, last Saturday.

The accused is 21-year-old Keifa Lee Gilchrist, a chef of Fourth Street, Greenwich Town, Kingston 13. Reports are that about 7:20 p.m., the victim transported Gilchrist to Riverton Meadows under the pretence of collecting a personal item. Upon reaching the destination, Gilchrist allegedly exited the vehicle and instructed the driver to follow her. Shortly after, a gunman approached the vehicle and opened fire, injuring the driver. The victim was subsequently forcibly removed from the vehicle, and Gilchrist and the assailant fled the scene in the stolen vehicle.

The injured driver was transported to hospital for medical attention and a report was made to the police, leading to the apprehension of Gilchrist. She was subsequently charged with wounding with intent, conspiracy to wounding with intent, robbery with aggravation, conspiracy to robbery with aggravation, possession of unauthorised ammunition, using a firearm to commit a felony, and accessory after the fact.
