MIAMI, Jan. 30, CMC – One of the two bodies discovered early this month in the landing gear of a JetBlue plane at the Fort Lauderdale International Airport, has been identified as a 16-year-old national of the Dominican Republic, who had been reported missing by his family.

He has been identified as Elvis Volquez Castillo.

His mother, Ironely Castillo, confirmed the identification after U.S. Investigators travelled to the Dominican Republic earlier this week as part of the ongoing investigation.

Volquez Castillo, who lived with his family in La Altagracia province, was found inside a JetBlue aircraft that had arrived in Florida from New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport.

Authorities continue to investigate how the bodies ended up in the plane’s landing gear compartment.

The identity of the other body is not yet known.
