Teen girl finds strange man inside bathroom while home alone
What started as a regular Saturday afternoon turned into a nightmare for a 15-year-old girl in Mandeville when she stumbled upon a strange man inside her bathroom while home alone.
The incident happened at a house on Grove Road about 2:35 p.m. on February 7, after her mother securely locked up the house and left her inside.
But later, she heard strange noises coming from another section of the house.
Thinking something was out of place, the teenager went to check.
That is when she made a chilling discovery.
According to police reports, the child reportedly saw a man inside the bathroom. Shocked and frightened, she immediately raised an alarm.
The intruder fled through the bathroom window before help arrived.
Police were summoned and processed the scene. Investigations later revealed that the suspect allegedly gained entry using a ladder that was on the property.
A surveillance camera valued at about $8,000 was also reportedly destroyed during the break-in.
Sleuths assigned to the Manchester Policing Division later apprehended 27-year-old Andre McKenzie of Fosmore Drive, May Pen, Clarendon, the same day.
On Monday, February 9, McKenzie reportedly gave a caution statement in the presence of two justices of the peace, during which he confessed to the crime.
He has since been charged with house breaking with intent and malicious destruction of property.
His court date is now being arranged.
