Dacosta, Azan entries dominate first in SVL series

ENTRIES from the barns of champion trainer Wayne DaCosta and Richard Azan dominate the preliminary list of runners for next Monday's Cash Pot Only One For Me Trophy race, the first leg of the Supreme Ventures Limited Two-Year-Old Series.

Of the 14 entries announced by Caymanas Track Limited Saturday afternoon, DaCosta has four runners lined up from his powerful stable - DREAMLINER, FUTURE KING, VISION and A THOUSAND STARS.

"I nominated three horses, ZUGULU, MY COMPANION and FEDORA," Azan confirmed, making seven, the number of runners from two barns in the 1200-metre event worth $2.95m.

Philip Feanny has two entries, BUBBLING KITTEN and SORENTINO'S STAR. Gary Subratie's NUCLEAR AFFAIR is also among the 14 hunting glory in the rich series dubbed the Two-Year-Old Triple Crown, which continues November 28 with the Pick-3 Super Challenge Trophy and concludes on Boxing Day, December 26, with the Jamaica Two-Year-Old Stakes.

A $1m bonus awaits any horse which had passed through the Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association's Yearling Sale and manages to sweep the series. PRINCESS POPSTAR became the first horse to accomplish the feat, in 2013, but did not qualify for the bonus as she was not sold in the yearling sale, leaving the cash untouched.

Dwight Chen's COME DANCE WITH ME won last year's Cash Pot Trophy. Anthony Nunes' ALACRANN won the Pick-3 Super Challenge and Jamaica Two-Year-Old Stakes.

DaCosta's DREAMLINER, a winner of two races, will shoulder topweight 56.0 kilos. He was, however, upset by stablemate VISION, in the recent 1100-metre Keeling Memorial after disputing the lead with Azan's FEDORA.

Azan's ZUGULU was an impressive winner on last, running on a wet track two weeks ago, setting up what should be another showdown between those two stables.
