All set for 2016 Central Hurdles and Relays meet
The Central Hurdles and Relays meet is back this year following a two-year break. The GC Foster College track was closed for renovation and organisers were forced to cancel the last two renewals of the meet.
This year's meet is set for January 23 on the refurbished track at G.C. Foster.
All the top schools, clubs and institutions are expected to travel to Spanish Town for the meet as it will give teams their first chance to organise their relay squads five weeks before the prestigious McCook Gibson Relays.
There will be three relay events at the meet - the 4x100m, 4x400m and 4x800m Open which will be a qualifier for this year's Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Other track events include the 200m and 60m open for clubs and institutions only and the 400m, 1500m for Class Three boys and girls. There will also be sprint and intermediate hurdles events.
The long and high jump are the field events to be contested.
Jerry Holness who recently returned from a coaching stint in the United Arab Emirates will be the meet director.
Toyota Jamaica, Milo, Custom Marble and Design and Creative Sound are the early sponsors of the one-day meet.
