Still in charge

Despite finishing second to Calabar High School for four consecutive seasons, Neil Harrison has no plans to resign from his head coaching position at Kingston College.

"As far as I am concerned I am still the head coach of Kingston College. Nobody in authority has said anything to me," Harrison said yesterday.

Harrison's team lost by almost a hundred points to Calabar in the recently concluded ISSA GraceKennedy Boys' and Girls' Athletic Championships.

Calabar amassed 368.5 points over the five-day championships while KC managed 278 points.

After losing last year, there were calls from him to step down as head coach and with large margin of defeat this year the pressure seems to be increasing on Harrison.

But Harrison wants KC's supporters to be tactful in their evaluation of the team's performance this year.

FOUGHT GALLANTLY

"We never had the depth of a Calabar. We sustained a few injuries with a few key athletes and in spite of all the circumstances, I think the team fought gallantly," Harrison said. "People may be upset that we lost but they need to evaluate and see. Was Kingston College in a position to win 2018? What are the factors affecting the performance of the team?"

He said that there were some outstanding performances from individuals on the team that should be celebrated.

"If you look there were good performances even though we did not win. There is the Class Three dominance in terms of the sprints, I didn't coach (Jhevaughn) Matherson this year, but we had Rushaun Rowe coming from Class Two into Class One with 10.40 Terrique Stennent coming from Class Three into Class Two with 10.37 and Dashawn Morris with 45.09. People just need to look at the performances," Harrison said.
