Professional Football Jamaica Chairman Chris Williams says he will be using the Christmas holidays to rest and unwind and get some much-needed family time.

Williams spends his time not only in football administration, but is also the chief executive officer of PROVEN Management and says his daily business routine affords him very little time to rest and spend time with the family.

However, Christmas usually provides one of those rare occasions when he gets time to be at home and just be with loved ones.

"I am busy most days and nights of the year, so it does distract me from quality family time," Williams told THE WEEKEND STAR. "So the opportunity that Christmas gives is slowing things down with no distraction of business or other interests.

"So that leaves me with time to focus on the family and spend some time with my wife, my two boys, and my mother."

Spend devotion in reflection

Family devotion is a typical part of the Williams household, and after losing a brother in April of this year, Williams said that they intend to spend devotion in reflection.

"One of the things we like to do is devotion and that is extremely important because what COVID has taught us is to appreciate what we have," he said. "It had been a year of losses and I certainly recognise the blessings that I have been given."

However, Williams' wish for the holidays is to see Jamaica and Jamaicans make a greater effort to make the country more self-sufficient.

"It is important for us as Jamaicans to focus on building our nation," he said. "All of our imports can be cut off very quickly, so we have to be in a position to take care of ourselves.

"We have to make sure that this rock is as close to self-sufficient as possible. So I would like us to focus on building our nation."
