Anderson fires Cavalier into JPL final

Colin Anderson fired Cavalier into their second Jamaica Premier League (JPL) final in three seasons with a brace in their second-leg semi-final against defending champions Harbour View on Sunday at Sabina. Cavalier won 3-0 on aggregate.
Anderson netted in the 11th and 57th minutes to also retake the lead in the Golden Boot race with 19 goals after Trevante Stewart had surpassed his tally of 17 with a double of his own in the other semi-final earlier to climb to 18 for the season. Stewart's double helped Mount Pleasant to beat Arnett Gardens and 3-1 last night and advance 5-3 on aggregate.
"Trevante is my friend and a good player. I like him a lot, but I was on the top (of the scoring chart) so long and wasn't getting any challenge, but I got a challenge today (Sunday), so I had to come out and deliver," Anderson told STA R Sports.
"It was a good performance from me. I worked hard on everything in training and came out and delivered," he added.
Cavalier's coach Rudolph Speid said the champions played into their hands.
"There is a thing called the method, the most effective tactic available. They had to come at us, so there were going to be holes in their team. We just exploited that with pace," Speid said.
Harbour View's coach Ludlow Bernard said it was a disappointing result and performance.
"I thought we could have got a little more from the players, but the early goal they scored was always going to make it difficult for us," Bernard commented.
Anderson put Cavalier in front on the night when he outjumped his marker and goalkeeper Romario Palma for the opener.
Shaneil Thomas had a great chance to increase Cavalier's lead before the break, but he put his effort over from six yards.
However, in the second half, the former Jamaica College ace slipped a pass to Anderson, who evaded his marker and slotted into the far post past Palma to put the tie to bed.
