Mount Pleasant Football Academy entered the Jamaica Premier League (JPL) in 2018, and Sue-Lae McCalla and former captain Ladale Richie have remained consistent fixtures since then.

On Sunday, McCalla, the Mount Pleasant captain, was rewarded for his commitment and dedication with two goals in the JPL final at Sabina Park, bringing the coveted trophy to St Ann for the first time, which he told STAR Sports, was his plan.

"Before the game, I had a plan. I wanted to score two times. So I told the masseuse that if I got a proper massage, I would score at both ends, so it was planned.

"Definitely, I feel this was destined. The work never stopped. I have dedicated myself to the club, and we longed to win the title. We knew anything was possible and just wanted to take it home," McCalla said.

There is nothing to a captain like leading his team to victory, and the defender was proud to have led from the front.

"I came out to lead by example, and I did it. I led by example and put my team at the forefront. We know our quality, and we know once we play our game, we are on the right track to win," he commented.

Mount Pleasant's supporters have been arguably the most committed set of fans, showing dedication whether they play at home or away, and McCalla was happy to be the one to deliver the title to them, which he believes is deserving.

"There are no words to explain the feeling right now, but definitely, every year we want to do this and bring this feeling to St Ann because we could not do it without these great fans."

McCalla scored three goals this season to make it his 26th overall in the JPL.

The 30-year-old defender has played for Portmore United, Cavalier and Humble Lion before joining Mount Pleasant.

McCalla believes more titles will come under his watch.

"I feel like there are plenty more to go," he said.
