Three safe bankers: Commander Z, Baton Rouge, Atomica

START Saturday's Reggae 6 on the premise that there's no such thing as 'a good thing' among low-level claimers or five-year-olds, who are yet to win two races, horses hunting a second win for almost a year and a half.

After breaking the cardinal rule by banking on THEGOODLIFE to start last Saturday's Reggae 6 among $250,000 claimers, make a bulletproof start this weekend by taking no chances with five-year-olds in a blink sprint at four furlongs straight.

On paper, BESTDAUGHTERINLAW appears a tempting prospect. Hardly ever led in a race, caught inside the final furlong at five and a half by HUNZA when last out in November, the bred-to-sprint mare has been busy in the mornings, suggesting she should easily brush aside her 10 rivals.

Despite her appeal and knack of trainer Vincent Atkinson to do well with horses off the lay-up, six months in this case, BESTDAUGHTERINLAW raced only once last year, a howling red flag that she has major issues.

Apart from the fact that her issues appear major, there is also the possibility of BESTDAUGHTERINLAW being declared a non-runner, for whatever reason, which would leave her backers holding tickets of an unwanted favourites a banker in an open race of questionable runners.

Therefore, start strong, not wrong, by going with all the speed possibilities before going on a run of three bankers - COMMANDER Z, BATON ROUGE and ATOMICA - to keep those bets affordable.

However, the fifth event should not be taken for granted. JUSTIN BIDEN might have run the race of his life to beat non-winners-of-an-overnight on May 11, turning back off-the-break STOMP THE RHYTHM inside the final furlong. Returning three weeks later at seven and a half furlongs against race-fit runners could prove a different kettle of fish.

Close the Reggae 6 by zeroing in on the pair of BIBLICAL LEGEND and BIGMANBIDEN. BIBLICAL LEGEND has played bridesmaid in her last five races, once per month since the start of the year, suggesting soundness has not been her issue.

Meanwhile, BIGMANBIDEN, dropping in from a $550,000 claim tag, almost made it home against $400,000 claimers mid-December, suggesting he is better than $250,000 on his best day.
