They all have to catch Noble Impulse
THOUGH faced with another low-level claiming scrap to start Saturday's Reggae 6, bettors need not apply last Sunday's approach, which got all bets off to a winning start with 9-1 chance GALWAY BAY being touted among "a quartet that has shown speed".
As knotty as Saturday's five-furlong round opener for $250,000 claimers appear, Gary Griffiths' NOBLE IMPULSE should use superior speed to win at five furlongs round.
Oshane Nugent did very little on last aboard the five-year-old at four furlongs straight, making all against JUST AN ILLUSION. Though not pulling up the soundest of horses, NOBLE IMPULSE's rivals are far from being models of fitness themselves.
CONUNDRUM was being handled gingerly by Raddesh Roman when beaten by SUNSHINE CAT at six and a half furlongs last Saturday, making his quick return highly questionable. ABSOLUTE BLUE might have looked flashy when winning by 10 lengths at five and a half on May 25 but was no match when faced with NOBLE IMPULSE's speed on March 23.
After being brave in the opener, take no chances with the next two events. AVA JAELYN, KING AIR, JUPITER MAN and POTENTIAL regularly exchange placings without winning. Hence, similar to ANIKA BELLE last Sunday, WHO DONEIT could very well upstage his more exposed rivals though new to the level in the second event.
Much will depend on who goes out on the lead in the third at six furlongs with the likelihood of a collapsing pace benefiting much-improved GREY COMMANDER. However, the trip might be a little short for the grey, opening up can of possibilities.
The fourth isn't too bad with REGNANT, BUGATTI, DON ALMIGHTY and CATABA being the speed horses to be on at five and a half furlongs.
American MOTIVATE ME BABY should use experience and superior speed to beat debutant GOODBYE FIREFLY at five furlongs straight after showing fair speed on last and improvement at exercise.
HAVAJOY showed up prominently behind useful PRINCESS FIANIE at six and a half last Sunday when fitted with blinkers. It was a fair effort in the headgear, which should carry her to the winners' enclosure. However, Gary Subratie has fitted MILA KAY with a tongue tie, making her a live possibility to turn the form around.
