In a classic case of David slaying Goliath, the two top teams in the Jamaica Premier League suffered humiliating losses yesterday, falling to struggling clubs in the 14-team league.

Leaders Mount Pleasant Football Academy, who just set a league record of 11 straight victories, were beaten 2-1 by Harbour View FC, which started the day second from bottom, at the Harbour View Mini Stadium.

Rohan Brown (7th) and Oquassa Chong (43rd) put Harbour View 2-0 up at halftime. Daniel Green pulled a goal back for Mount Pleasant, deep into stoppage time.

Harbour View climbed out of the relegation zone and into 12th on 19 points, while Mount Pleasant continue to sit eight clear at the top of the table with 52 points.

Meanwhile, second-place Montego Bay United slumped to their first loss in five games, going down 2-0 to a rejuvenated Dunbeholden FC, who got late goals from Dean Andre Thomas (81st) and Dwight Merrick (85th). Dunbeholden are 10th in the table on 22 points, while MoBay stayed second on 44 points.

At Drewsland, Atapharoy Bygrave's 90th-minute goal saved hosts Waterhouse from a fourth straight defeat at home and their third in a row, after they played to a 1-1 draw with Molynes United FC at the Waterhouse Mini Stadium.

Jason Wright put Molynes in the lead with an 82nd-minute goal, but out-of-form striker Bygrave would salvage the draw to give Waterhouse their first point in three matches.

Waterhouse's head coach Marcel Gayle was especially disappointed with how they conceded.

"I am very disappointed. The way we conceded the goal. That is something we talk about, so we have to take licks for that," he said.

"If it's something we talk about, we cannot let it beat us. Let something else beat us in the game that we never planned for. But that mistake was silly and we will have to talk about that."

Waterhouse had the bulk of the chances in the game with Shamarie Dallas and Javane Bryan (twice) missing easy chances, including a sitter missed by the latter from six yards in the first half.

Gayle's counterpart Jermaine Thomas was also unhappy with how they allowed the late equaliser.

"We played well. We had some good moments and defended well when we had to," he said..

"We conceded a soft one, we should have dealt with it way better. We allowed them to cross the ball, and balls in the six yards box, travelling at that height, you really want your goalkeeper to deal with that much better. But it's football. You have some tough ones sometimes," he commented.

Molynes stayed ninth, on 23 points, while Waterhouse remain sixth, with 34 points.

PORTMORE WIN

Portmore came from behind to beat Humble Lions 2-1 at Ferdi Neita Park. Cleo Clarke put Humble Lions in front in the 35th minute. But Shacquwell Henry (76th) and Orlando Russell (88th) secured Portmore's first win in three matches. Portmore stayed fourth, on 38 points, while Humble Lions are bottom of the table on 14.

Racing United defeated Chapelton Maroons 2-1 to leapfrog Tivoli Gardens FC, who play Arnett today. Neil Ellis scored an 80th-minute winner after Daniel Watson's 58th-minute goal had cancelled out Roshane Myrie's 56th-minute strike.

Racing have 28 points, in seventh, while Chapelton slipped one place to 11th, on 20 points.
