I am 68 years old and seeking a husband
Dear Pastor,
Greetings, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. I am from Westmoreland and a member of a Pentecostal church.
To be frank, I am not feeling the way I should. I am depressed and burdened most times when I should be happy. Pen and paper cannot explain, but I thank God for keeping me alive and in my right mind.
I am 68. I lost my husband in 1999. I am feeling more lonely as time goes by. I have a business place and a house of my own. I have no one, family member or friend to help me to plan, so I continue to be independent. All people do is borrow, borrow and, you know what is next.
I am wondering if there is any single, trustworthy, loving, caring and sexually transmitted disease-free, single, unmarried man you can introduce me to? A real man who would like to marry me, a man who is a child of God, preferable of the Pentecostal faith. I have a lot more to say, but this is all for now.
Thank you and may God's blessings continue to be with you. Amen.
A.C.
Dear A.C.,
You seem to have done well, but making a big mistake in business. Your heart is too soft as a businesswoman. You have to stop allowing people to credit goods and not pay. That definitely should not be allowed. I know, in some communities, business owners believe they can work with families and extend credit to them. When sister so and so runs out of flour or rice, she can send a note with her daughter, or granddaughter, to the shopkeeper. The good shopkeeper would send her what she wants. Sometimes, (as you know) sister so and so would not pay. You have to draw the line and say enough is enough. No more credit!
If you continue, you will allow these people to destroy your business. You are not in business for 'good name'. You are serving the community, yes, but you have to make a profit.
Evidently, you had a good husband. The relationship was tight. I am sorry to hear he has passed on. You have not mentioned anything about children. I assume you do not have children. You feel the need for a new companion, so my prayers are with you.
You will hear from me. I am sure there are good men who would love to get to know you. I am also sure the Good Lord will direct you in choosing who you believe will treat you right and hold you in high esteem.
Pastor
