Overprotective stepfather

Dear Pastor,

I am having a problem with my stepfather. I am 18 years old and I have a boyfriend. My stepfather took care of me from the time he met my mother.

My mother told me that from I was five months old, my stepfather and her became friends and very few people know that he is not my biological father.

My boyfriend has proposed to me but my stepfather does not want me to get married. He told me that he has nothing against my boyfriend.

But, Pastor, he is not telling me the truth, because when I want to go out with my boyfriend, he tells me that I should stay home.

My mother always have to remind him that I am not a child and I am 18.

One day I had to lie to my boyfriend because he invited me to their family reunion and my stepfather and I had a big fuss over it, so I did not go.

I am not foolish. I wouldn't allow my boyfriend to get me pregnant. I am awaiting your answer.

You have a good stepfather, but he is overprotective. Please be respectful to your parents at all times, even when you might disagree with them. Love them and trust them. Give yourself some more time before you get married.
