I am stressed out, Pastor

September 29, 2016

Dear Pastor.

I read your column every day on the Internet. I am 19 years old. I got pregnant when I was 16 and I have a lovely baby boy.

My babyfather and I broke up because he told me that the reason why he got me pregnant was that he didn't want me to leave him.

I went back to school after I had my baby and did my CXC subjects. I did seven and got five. I have been looking for a job, but unfortunately I have not been lucky.

I live with my father. My mom is abroad for one year now. She has helped me a lot but I don't want to depend on her.

One year ago I fell in love with another guy; he will be 22 soon. He is a good man and I don't want to stress him out, but anything I ask him for he will do it. He treats my son like his own son. But right now I don't know what to do.

Sometimes I get very upset and I don't want to see him. I pay the bills in the house. My dad doesn't help to pay them. My babyfather is working but is not getting enough money to help me support his child.

Sometimes I feel like giving up on life. I am stressed out, and I don't know who to turn to for help. Please advise me.

P.D.

Dear P.D.,

You should seek a job. You seem to be an ambitious person. You would probably need some more subjects, but if you were employed, you could take these subjects and pay for them. Your child's father should give you more money to support his child. You should take him to court for child support. He is not a good man. He admitted that he got you pregnant because he did not want the relationship to end. He foolishly thought that by getting you pregnant that would make you stay with him.

Evidently, your present boyfriend is trying his best to assist you, but you need to be careful and not bring any unnecessary pressure on him. You say that you feel stressed out and you do not know what to do. One thing I know you should not do is to borrow money to pay your bills. To do so will put you into debt, and that will make life more stressful. You did not say what type of work you can do. I would suggest that whatever job is available that you take it until you can do better.
