Fathers, teach your sons well

June 10, 2020

Dear Pastor,

It is lovely to see some of these married men spending some quality time with their lovely spouses. I know some of them love to spend their time in bars or playing dominoes, or giving their spouses 'bun'.

Anyway, the coronavirus has good and bad effects. But I can just imagine that the street girls are going to be bankrupt, as they are losing business.

At least they can find their yard and spend time with their families. They can be free from the transmission of STIs.

You asked on your show what is the best advice a father can give to his son about women. I can think of so many things.

The first thing I think he should say is that he should be very respectful and treat her like a lady. Women need to be treated with great respect.

The second thing is that he should not abuse his woman, because when a man puts his hand on a woman, she will lose all respect for him. Third, he should try not to get his woman pregnant before they are married, especially if they are planning to finish their education.

They should practise safe sex. They should plan ahead, and if he gets her pregnant, he should stand by her every step of the way.

Fourth, he should not just look for a pretty woman, because some pretty women only want nice clothes, shoes and bags, and to get their nails and hair done.

Looks can be deceiving sometimes; it is best for a man to meet a decent woman in the church, as they seem to be more respectful and understanding. Stay with one woman. A good woman is hard to find, so take time to know each other. Put God first.

Dear V.,

You have given some reasonable advice. But concerning the girls who are sex workers, callers have told me on the 'Dear Pastor' show that these girls are doing 'their thing' in broad daylight.

They are off the street before the curfew. In fact, one caller sent me pictures to prove to me that these women are beating the system. So these girls will always carry on their trade if they have to.

The suggestions that you have made to the men are valuable and I thank you so much for your input.
