Tired of being a ‘house rat’

February 12, 2021

Dear Pastor,

I am in high school and I am very popular. I come from a very strict home but these days, I feel like a 'house rat' because I do not go out much. My mother had me when she was very young for an older man. My father did not marry my mother, but he supported me. My mother always regretted having me as a single woman, but my father helped her to go back to school and she became a registered nurse.

Pastor, some people consider me as flirty, but I do not engage in sex. Some guys have even accused me of being a lesbian because I have rejected them. My goal is to become a doctor and I will not give that up. I am a virgin and I would like to remain a virgin for a long time.

My father is living abroad, and he is hoping to take me to America when I am finished with sixth form. I talk to his wife sometimes and she is very nice to me. My mother has not got married. I would like to become a doctor then get married and have four children. I know that may sound crazy, but that is my goal. I don't want my husband to be a doctor; we must have different professions. Pastor, keep up your good work. You are wonderful.

K.

Dear K.,

Thanks for your testimony. I know it is tough these days on everybody. People have to restrict where they go and what they do, but I believe that better days are ahead of us and this pandemic will not last forever. I am glad that you are all right and that you have a good relationship with your mom and dad. Do not allow what people say about you to discourage you. Be focused. Take good care of yourself.
