Cheating ex-husband wants me back

Dear Pastor,

I listen to you at nights and I read your column. I was married but I divorced my husband because he would not settle down. He always kept other women with me and he was very disrespectful. People on the outside thought that he was a good father to his children and a good husband to me but he was not. He loved the school girls. I told him that if he wanted to have other women why didn't he take women in his age group? Once when I said that to him he said that women in my age group were 'stretched out'. He used to earn a good salary, but the young girls ate him out. He even gave me a sexual disease and when I begged him to go to the doctor, he said I did not get any disease from him and said that I got it from my side man. I tried to get the two of us to go and see my minister, but he would not go. He used to go into our account and withdraw money behind my back, so I filed for a divorce and now I am free.

A couple of months ago he called me telling me that he has changed and he wants us to get back together. He is even trying to work through my children to get me to take him back. He got one of the young girls pregnant, so Pastor, I have no need for this man because I am happy. Some of my church people told me that I should take him back. What do you think I should do?

Dear O.S.,

I think you would be making a fool of yourself if you took this man back in your life. He has been very disrespectful and abusive. You did the right thing by divorcing him. You have an opportunity to start your life over without him. Don't allow him to come in to your life again and muddy the water. Don't be worried about him getting around your children. They are well aware of what he was doing with other women and I am sure that they have heard that he has impregnated a young girl. They would not want to see you suffer at his hand anymore. He is their father and as their father, they will naturally love him. But that is as far as they would go with him right now.
