Yet to meet my boyfriend after five years of dating
Dear Pastor,
I am a long-time reader of your column, and I see where you give some good advice. I met a guy over the Internet and we have been phone friends since 2016. To be honest, I like him, so from time to time I will ask him when he will come to visit me. We live in different parishes.
I don't trust people easily, so I never had the courage to visit him. I am also very cautious about travelling to meet persons because I have seen, in the news on television, where persons have become victims of crimes.
Whenever I ask him when does he plan on visiting me, he always tells me that I will see him one day. However, he has never come.
Knowing someone for such a long time and never having met him makes me sad. My mind is telling me that he has a woman, so that is the reason why he can't find time to visit me. Every night he calls, but during the day we don't speak because he does not carry his phone to work.
He claims that he doesn't carry his phone because of an incident that happened at his workplace, so it is only when he reaches home that we can talk. Sometimes we even do video calls.
I think I am wasting my time with this man. I am in my late 20s and not getting younger. I am tired of waiting because I feel this so-called relationship will never move from where it is. I don't have any children. He has one. Whenever I tell him that I am tired of waiting on him, he says I am saying so because I have a man.
I don't depend on this man for anything, so I know I can move on. Sometimes I feel that I am stupid, and I have been behaving like there is no other man around. It has been years I have not slept with a man, but I don't allow that to bother me, because I believe that God have someone special for me. I just need your fatherly advice.
H.
Dear H.,
It is time for you to tell this man that he should get lost. He is not interested in you. You are wasting your time. You are an intelligent girl; don't allow this man to continue making a fool of you.
