My sister and I are planning a double wedding

October 01, 2021

Dear Pastor,

I am 24 years old and I have a sister who is 26. We are still living at home with our parents. My sister is getting married in December, and my boyfriend, who is living in New York, is coming to Jamaica to marry me in January.

My sister is suggesting that we have a double wedding and save some money. My parents are all for it because we will have just one ceremony at the church, and one reception and most of our guests would be family members. My sister's fiance is not sure if his company would grant him leave to come to Jamaica in January.

Pastor, have you ever officiated at a double wedding? Would you be willing to officiate at ours? Kindly let us know. I have never met you, but I read your column everyday and am looking forward to hearing from you. We need to make plans for the wedding, so please do not delay in answering my letter.

Sisters

Dear Sisters,

Firstly, I must say congratulations to you. I am glad to hear that your sister and yourself are making plans to be married and that you believe that it is prudent to do it at the same time, on the same day. You will indeed save lots of money.

You want to know whether I have officiated at a double weeding and the answer is yes. When I just got my marriage officer licence, a man came to see me and he wanted to be married, and his sister wanted to be married also, and both of them asked me if I would officiate at their weddings at the same time, on the same day, and I consented. Everything went very well and I have done other double weddings. Indeed, I have officiated at a triple wedding, three couples at the same time.

I would be very honoured to officiate at your sister's wedding and at yours. You should call me and arrange to meet with me and I would lead you every step of the way. Congratulations again and I look forward to meeting with your sister and yourself and also with your fiances.
