I took up a ‘bruk’ pocket man

April 22, 2022

Dear Pastor,

I have a boyfriend and he drives a car but whenever he comes to see me, the first thing he tells me is that he does not have any gas.

Whenever I tell him that he should put gas in his car before coming to pick me up, he says that his mother is not feeling well and he had to take her to the doctor and fill her prescription. This has happened three times.

He said she has high blood pressure. The only thing I get from this man is a one-piece chicken lunch. I had a boyfriend before I met him and he never asked me for money. He always wanted sex, but he spent money on me. I got tired of taking the bus, so I decided to try this guy. But it was better if I had stayed with the other guy.

My current guy lives at home and he has started bringing his clothes for me to wash. I told him to get somebody to do that and he said that will cost too much. I want to leave him. I found out that he is driving the company's car. I was so upset because I thought that the car belonged to him.

This man told me he does not have any children and he would like us to have a child together. I am not ready for a child, but I cannot allow him to get me pregnant. I am 23 and I have made a big mistake by giving this man a chance in my life. I called my ex-boyfriend and told him that I would like us to meet again. He has a new girlfriend and she is always at his house. So, he said that if I can hold on, he will meet with me because she is going to America to see her mother.

I am thinking about what to do. I always say that when I get to 25, I want to be married and have at least one child. But I can't marry a man who never has any money. Do you think I should stay with him or move on?

G.D.

Dear G.D.,

You made a mistake by getting involved with this man. You allowed yourself to be fooled by him because he drives a car.

Many women have been fooled by con men. Oh, what a motor car may cause women to do. Some women have even been fooled by men who have taken them to apartments that are not theirs. How can a guy who is a security guard own an apartment that costs $40 million? If he owns it, he might have got it through scamming or his parents have a certain amount of wealth and bought it for him.

Men know that women are impressed by lovely cars. So, these men drive them to certain spots in the Corporate Area or the north coast and point out certain properties and say, 'You see that property, it belongs to my uncle. But I am in charge, and we can come here and spend a weekend anytime.' They are liars and thieves.

When this man asked you for money to buy gas because of his mother's illness, you believed him. But you should not have believed him the second time. You could have told him that both of you could go to Devon House and have some ice cream. Of course, he wouldn't even have money to buy you a cone.

Concerning your former boyfriend. You have jumped out of the frying pan and into the fire. Leave him alone. You would only be encouraging him to cheat on his girlfriend. You behave as if men are running away. Men will always be around, so you should have your eyes wide open and never allow your heart to rule your head. Be intelligent about relationships. Get your present boyfriend out of your life, but don't be in a hurry to make another commitment after he is gone.
