We must turn to God and love each other

January 30, 2023

Dear Pastor,

" He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God, who hath also given unto us his holy Spirit," are the words of Thessalonians 4:8.

The Apostle Paul, inspired by the Holy Spirit, cautioned the Church in Thessalonica not to look down on one another, or on one another's gifts. Every believer has been bought by the precious blood of Jesus Christ, so in God's sight we are equal and should treat one another as such. Since all of the believers of Thessalonica were children of God, whatever they did to one another, whether good or evil, they were doing it to God. The Holy Spirit, who is the seal of our salvation, lives in every Christian and therefore we must respect one another and never belittle anyone. We should also exhort one another daily as it says in Hebrews 3:13.

When we do these things, there will be unity among us and we will do the work of God with joy, instead of bitterness. When there is love and oneness among us, it is easy for the world to see the light in us and accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour. " I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way. O well wilt thou come unto me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart," says Psalm 101:2. The psalmist made a personal commitment with the Lord. What was this personal commitment? He said he would be wise in his behaviour and conduct himself in a perfect way. He also went further to say that he would work on his heart and made sure that his heart was perfect. He was doing all these things so that God would find him to be a useful vessel.

Dear beloved, make this month your month of personal commitment to the Lord. During this month and beyond, you are going to prepare your heart by cleansing your heart and thoughts of all sins and wickedness. Think about the good of humanity and the welfare of your nation. When your heart and thoughts are good, your conduct will be good, because what you think about is what you are compelled to do. God hates sin and you must also hate it, so that God can fellowship with you and make you a vessel of honour to bless the rest of the world.

Dear J.,

You write as a Christian woman, and I can see that you believe that if men and women will turn to God, life will be different for each person individually. The sufferings that we are encountering in Jamaica would cease. You seem to have made a personal commitment to God and that you have fully committed yourself to Him. God has blessed you. I thank you for sharing what you believe, and perhaps some readers will find great comfort in what you have written. God bless you, my dear sister.
