Book ship close amid strike by Cement Company workers
Strike action by workers at Caribbean Cement Friday has resulted in the book ship becoming inaccessible. Logos Hope, the world’s largest floating book fair, has now been closed to the public until further notice.
"We are grateful for the warm welcome we have received in Kingston and hope the situation at Caribbean Cement Company will be resolved soon to the satisfaction of all concerned, so we can reopen to the public," a company spokesperson said in a statement.
The ship arrived in Kingston on May 12 and is scheduled to remain at the Caribbean Cement Company’s pier at Rockfort, Kingston until June 11.
Several students and other persons were inconvenienced as workers, who are on strike, prevented access to the Logos Hope.
