Justus rhythm featured on US reality TV show

Super producer Justus Arison of JA Productions has scored another impressive breakthrough for dancehall music as his latest rhythm, Life Support, has picked up a high-profile sync placement on the popular US reality TV series, 'Bad Girls Club'.

A single on the rhythm, a hip-hop remix of Let Dem Een, by Gyptian, was featured in the 14th episode of the current season which aired on September 29. The episode was a ratings bonanza as it showed the twins and Jela in a historic final showdown with the other girls, resulting in almost half the house being sent home.

"It's a great look for Jamaican music and for Gyptian. I just got the idea to do the hip-hop remix one day when I was playing the a cappella version of Let Dem Een, and I built a rhythm around it.

"I had done a soca remix so I decided, why not try a hip-hop remix which I did for the whole rhythm, and it got picked up by Bad Girls Club." an enthusiastic Arison said.

Bad Girls Club is an American reality television series created for the Oxygen network in the United States. The show focuses on the altercations and physical confrontations of seven highly aggressive, quarrelsome and unruly women.

"I haven't even watched the full show, but I got the clippings on my phone with the song being placed in the episode. The song is played about 26 minutes in. I don't know if I am getting lucky or what, but my last two placements on US TV have come with current rhythm that are already out there," Arison added.

This is not the first time that a JA Productions rhythm has got a major high-profile TV and cable placement.

"Most times that my work gets placed is as instrumentals, with no lyrics, so nobody knows it is mine. I got a placement on Keeping Up with the Kardashians this year, and before that, I got another one for a hip-hop-ish rhythm, but it shows that people have a taste for dancehall," he said.
