Fun for all at 'Funfest'

Funfest came to Ocho Rios, St Ann, recently at Turtle River Park and left lots of children and their parents happy.

Intermittent showers played havoc with several activities over the holiday weekend in the resort town, including Funfest. However, that did not stop the crowd from flocking to the venue with children, especially, enjoying themselves even as the rain drizzled at times.

The adults did not wish to be left behind as far as the fun went and got their chance to celebrate, especially when gospel artiste Kevin Downswell hit the stage in the late afternoon.

"It's all about the family because a lot of times you have adults out there who want to come and enjoy themselves and others who enjoy themselves through their kids. Obviously, you have the kids who come and have a blast, so it's just 'nuff' fun," said Gyete Ghartey, who, along with Tshani Jaja, were the promoters of the event.

Anna Stewart was one of several parents who came out to enjoy the afternoon, taking along her six-year-old daughter, Amoy, along with her adult cousin. "Amoy is enjoying herself. She likes everything so far. She got popcorn and snowcone, then she's going to do some of the rides," Stewart told THE STAR.

The adults did enjoy themselves, thanks in a big way to a wonderful performance from gospel artiste of the moment Kevin Downswell, whose Stronger is still a favourite of Christians and non-Christians alike. In the end, the audience was pleased.
