Recording artiste Marcy Chin said following her debut performance in Atlanta, 'Dancehall Queen' Spice's encouragement was a "big deal" that also served as a booster to her career.

But prior to the Atlanta edition of the Marco Polo event, she said she was discouraged. She was told that the patrons are very hard to please and it would take a lot to impress them. However, not only did Marcy Chin comfortably rock the stage, she engaged her audience and had the patrons eating up her every word. She also left an impressionable mark on Spice, who was also a headliner for the show.

"When I was coming off the stage, a lady came up to me and said, 'Spice asked if I could record you coming off the stage'. And I was like - 'Well, of course, Spice'," she shared with a laugh. She recalled walking over to Spice's tent and being stopped by several fans to share photos and videos.

"And as I'm walking towards her she's yelling, 'Marcy, Marcy'. She came out and she was like, 'Good body Marcy', and she hugged me for a long time, [then] first thing she told me, 'Yuh gwaan good pon di stage, yuh come out ... you really did well'," Marcy Chin reminisced with pride. Spice also introduced her to other industry players and "her friends" from Love and Hip Hop.

Marcy Chin also crossed paths with Skeng, who, she said, expressed the same heartfelt support and encouragement.

"It was just a nice, happy star moment that let me feel like I'm really doing it now, because at that event I had a lot a moments that show who Marcy is to the audience and to other artistes, and the fact that they acknowledged me, showed that they see what's going on. So for me that was very big. It wasn't no little pat on the back embrace, it was some real type of genuine love being shown, and the energy was nice and real," she said.

The Gimmie More artiste added that to her surprise, the Atlanta crowd, which she was told was a "tough nut to crack", had fans who attended the event just to witness her performance. Knowing this, she was intentional in honing her stage appearance and presenting her craft like she never did before.

On riding the wave of the star quality that was reignited due to the reaffirmations from her colleagues, the singjay is gearing up for her next major performance at Reggae Sumfest.

"I'm gonna bring my A game for sure. I wanna go prepared this time," she said, while admitting that her last two performances did not go in her favour. "However, mi a guh prepare miself performance-wise with better organisation and bring the best of Marcy Chin to di patrons dem. And I do have a new team now; my girl Mali is here with me to put ma thing together the right way," she stated.

The artiste will be stepping up her dancing game and creative juice some more in her soon-to-be-released single, Dip, featuring fast-rising dancehall artiste Kaka Highflames.
